Coding at Molecule

As a developer, you play a crucial role in driving technological innovation. At Molecule, we invite you to join our vibrant developer community and be part of a groundbreaking movement that empowers researchers and revolutionizes the world of science and crypto.

For Developers

Teck Stack

Our tech team builds reusable DeSci infrastructure through smart contracts and user-facing applications. Our 2024 stack includes EVM-based solutions (IP-NFTs, IPTs, BIO.xyz exchange) using Solidity, Next.JS with viem & wagmi, and a Tailwind/Shadcn design system. Backend features run on Vercel and GCP.

The Future

Our developers are exploring new frontiers implementing cross-chain proofs with Layer0, Axiom, and zero-knowledge solutions using noir, and Solana SPL fundraising.

Mission & Team

The Molecule team is an assembly of people that share a common mission: use code to overcome the restrictions of the current scientific IP ecosystem. Our developers are specialists in web3 tech stacks and respective backends and we're proudly building one of the defining assets in DeSci space: the IP-NFT. Our product owners work closely with stakeholders of the ecosystem and stay connected with the stewards and leading executors at Bio DAOs to formulate ideas on what Molecule can contribute to speed up IP asset development. We have UX specialists aboard who deeply care about usability tradeoffs in a decentralised environment.

FAQs

What's Molecule’s approach to representing IP in web3?

While we don't directly put patents on-chain. IP-NFTs serve as on-chain reference points that anchor off-chain IP rights. This hybrid approach allows us to leverage blockchain's transparency while maintaining legal compliance for patent management.

How does Molecule balance commercial and open science interests?

The primitives we’re developing are mostly made to capture commercial intellectual property and our clients are working closely with commercial research labs, universities and TTOs. So while not strictly being restricted to monetizable research, IP-NFTs unfold their intrinsic value best when used with commercial IP.

How can I access research data associated with IP-NFTs?

IP-NFTs are not a data layer, they’re an ownership layer. We’re right now building integrations with major protocols that associate data with IP-NFTs so peer groups, token holders and interested stakeholders of an IP-NFT can gain access suing the IP-NFT as an access control instrument.

Why build on Ethereum?

We prioritize security and reliability. While Ethereum L1 has high costs, we're implementing L2 scaling solutions and cross-chain communication to optimize for efficiency while maintaining the network's core benefits of decentralization and security.

What dev tools do you use?

Our stack includes: Linear for project management, GitHub for version control, and Notion for documentation and Discord for communication.
